FinTech Connector Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 3, 2026
Last updated: October 3, 2026
This replaces the policy dated August 1, 2017.
1. Who we are
FinTech Connector, Inc., 16 Horton Drive, Huntington Station, NY 11746 ("FinTech Connector", "we", "us") runs members.fintechconnector.com (the "Platform") and www.fintechconnector.com (together, the "Services"). We decide how and why your personal information is used, so we are the "controller" under laws like the GDPR and UK GDPR. Contact: contact@fintechconnector.com. Our Terms of Service also apply to your use of the Services.
2. What we collect
What you give us
- Account details: name, email, password or social login (for example LinkedIn) details.
- Profile details: headshot, headline, company, country and city, description, work experience, LinkedIn URL, interests, and optional pitch PDF and intro video.
- Messages and activity: messages to members, who you follow, organization pages you join, searches, and support requests.
- Payment details for Pro and Premier. Payments are handled by Stripe. We receive limited billing information such as plan, status, and the last digits of a card. We do not store full card numbers.
What we collect automatically
- Device and log data: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, dates and times, and referring page.
- Google Analytics data: pages viewed, approximate location, and device and browser information, collected through cookies and sent to Google. Google Analytics is loaded through Google's tag script (see section 6).
- Technical error information, such as browser type and page, when something goes wrong on the Services.
- Cookies and similar tools (see section 6).
- Approximate country, worked out from your IP address using a country database file kept on our own servers. We do not store your IP address for this purpose. We use it to decide whether to show a cookie notice.
What we get from others
- From your social login provider, the profile details you allow them to share.
- From invitation links: a link_tag code in a signup link (for example ?link_tag=30C3F) that tells us which campaign or person referred you. We also remember it in a cookie. See section 6.
We do not ask for sensitive data (such as health or government ID). Please do not put it in your profile.
3. How we use your information and why
| What we do | Why we can do it (legal basis) |
|---|---|
| Create and run your account, confirm your email, review and approve your profile | Contract |
| Show your profile and let members search, follow, and message | Contract and our legitimate interests in running a networking platform |

| Understand how our pages are used, using Google Analytics | Legitimate interests |
| Credit the person or source that invited you, using the invitation link cookie | Consent for UK and EU visitors, legitimate interests elsewhere |
| Keep the Services safe, find and fix errors, enforce our Terms, handle abuse reports | Legitimate interests, legal obligation |
| Follow the law and respond to lawful requests | Legal obligation |
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
4. Who sees your information
- Other members and visitors. A public profile shows limited information and can be seen by anyone. Information, files and videos on your profile may be visible to other visitors or members depending on your profile settings, and media is hosted by our service providers. Do not upload anything you do not want shared. Messages are visible to the people in the conversation. We do not routinely read private messages but may review them to investigate reports, abuse, security issues, or legal requests.
- Our administrators. They review profiles and support the Services.
- Service providers that help us run the Services:
- Amazon Web Services: hosting, and file and image storage (Amazon S3).
- Cloudinary: hosts videos and images.
- Google: Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager (usage statistics), Google Fonts, YouTube (embedded videos), and reCAPTCHA (which may be used on signup forms to prevent spam).
- Stripe: payments. Stripe's script loads on our pages.
- Mailgun: sends our emails.
- Bugsnag: error monitoring. It receives technical error information such as browser type and page.
- Content delivery networks that serve code libraries for our pages (cdnjs and Bootstrap CDN).
- Your social login provider.
- Authorities and advisers when the law requires it, or to protect rights and safety.
- Buyers or partners if we merge, are acquired, or sell assets. We would tell you and your information would stay protected by this policy.
Our pages also link to Facebook, LinkedIn, and X. These are ordinary links, and those sites have their own policies.
We do not sell your personal information. Google Analytics sends usage data to Google, and Google may use measurement data under its own policies (see section 6). Under some privacy laws, that may count as "sharing" for advertising purposes. You can opt out as described in section 6.
5. International transfers
We are based in the United States and members are in about 130 countries. Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries, including where our service providers' data centers are located. When we move data from the EU, UK, or Switzerland, we use approved safeguards such as standard contractual clauses where the law requires them.
6. Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use a few kinds. We do not use the Facebook pixel or browser local storage. We are rolling out the invitation cookie and the notice during the week of October 5, 2026.
| Type | What it does | Cookie and details |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keeps you logged in and the site secure. The Platform cannot work without it. Set on your first visit, even when you are signed out. | _fintech_connect_session. We set it. Lasts for your browser session. Secure and HttpOnly. |
| Invitation link (referral) | Remembers which invitation link brought you here, so the right person or source gets credit if you sign up. | ftc_invite. We set it. Signed, HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax. Lasts 30 days. Holds only the invitation tag. For UK and EU visitors, only set if you click Accept. |
| Invitation choice | Remembers whether you clicked Accept or No thanks, so we do not keep asking. | ftc_invite_choice. We set it. Lasts 180 days. |
| Google Analytics | Shows us how our pages are used. Provided by Google. Set on your first visit, before you make any choice. | _ga and _ga_6NXPWS5ESN. Set by Google Analytics for the domain .fintechconnector.com. Last about 13 months. |
Google Analytics
We currently use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google. It loads on every public page for all visitors and uses cookies to collect pages viewed, approximate location, and device and browser information. It sends this usage data to Google. Google receives this data at analytics.google.com and at stats.g.doubleclick.net, a Google host used for measurement and advertising features. Google may use measurement data under its own policies, described in the Google Privacy Policy. We do not currently show a notice or ask for consent before Google Analytics loads.
To opt out, you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
The invitation link cookies
When you arrive at FinTech Connector through an invitation link from a member, partner, or other source, we save a small cookie in your browser. It remembers which invitation link brought you here. If you sign up later, the right person or source gets credit for the invitation.
- The cookie (ftc_invite) holds only a short code that identifies the invitation link. It does not hold your name, email address, IP address, or any other personal information.
- We set these two cookies ourselves. No third party sets them.
- The invitation cookie stays in your browser for up to 30 days.
- We use it only to credit the invitation. We do not use it to track you on other websites or for advertising.
- A second cookie (ftc_invite_choice) remembers whether you clicked Accept or No thanks. It stays in your browser for up to 180 days.
Your choice (UK and EU visitors)
If you are visiting from the United Kingdom or the European Union, we ask for your permission first. We save the invitation cookie only if you click "Accept" on the notice. If you click "No thanks", we do not save it. We save only the small choice cookie that remembers your answer. This notice covers the invitation cookie only. It does not cover Google Analytics (see above).
You can change your mind at any time by deleting the cookies for members.fintechconnector.com in your browser settings.
To decide whether to show you this notice, we use your IP address to work out your approximate country, using the DB-IP Lite country database kept as a file on our own servers and refreshed monthly. We do this at the moment you visit, and we do not store your IP address for this purpose.
This product includes IP geolocation data created by DB-IP, available at https://db-ip.com.
If you have questions about these cookies or want to use your privacy rights, contact us at contact@fintechconnector.com.
Cookies from other providers
Some pages load scripts or content from other providers (see section 4), such as Stripe, YouTube, Google Fonts, Cloudinary, Amazon S3, Google reCAPTCHA (which may be used on signup forms), and content delivery networks (cdnjs and Bootstrap CDN). These providers receive your IP address and browser details when your browser loads their content. They may also set their own cookies. They do this under their own policies, and we do not control them.
How to control cookies
- Use your browser settings to block or delete cookies. If you block necessary cookies, you may not be able to log in.
- Use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on described above to stop Google Analytics.
- We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals.
Cookie notice for UK and EU visitors: UK and EU visitors see a notice with "Accept" and "No thanks" before we set the invitation cookie, as described above. The notice covers the invitation cookie only. Google Analytics currently loads for all visitors without this notice. Strictly necessary cookies (login and session) are set without asking because the Platform cannot work without them.
7. Emails and marketing
We send service emails you cannot opt out of while you have an account, such as email confirmation, security alerts, and billing notices. We also send community emails, including newsletters, Community Updates, and the "Fintech in Ten" weekly recap. You can unsubscribe using the link in any such email, or by emailing us at contact@fintechconnector.com.
8. How long we keep information
We keep your information while your account is active. After you close your account, we delete or anonymize it within a reasonable time, except what we must keep for legal, tax, fraud-prevention, or dispute reasons. Billing records are kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require. Copies in backups are deleted on a regular schedule.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know what we hold about you and get a copy.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your information.
- Object to or limit some uses, including marketing.
- Move your data to another service (portability).
- Withdraw consent.
- Not be treated unfairly for using your rights.
You can edit most profile details in your account. To use any right, or to delete your account and data, email contact@fintechconnector.com. We may need to verify your identity. We will respond within the time the law allows (usually 30 to 45 days).
EU and UK: you can also complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office.
California: under the CCPA/CPRA you may request to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. In the past 12 months we have collected identifiers, profile and professional information, internet activity, commercial information (plan and billing), and content you posted, for the purposes in section 3. We do not sell personal information. Google Analytics may count as "sharing" under the CCPA/CPRA, and you can opt out as described in section 6. We do not knowingly sell or share information of anyone under 16. You may use an authorized agent to make a request.
10. Children
The Services are for professionals and are not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has given us information, contact us at contact@fintechconnector.com and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information. These include HTTPS to protect data in transit, hosting with AWS, restricted access to our database, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Use a strong, unique password. If a breach affects you, we will notify you and regulators as the law requires.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. For material changes we will email you or post a notice on the Platform before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last changed.
