"Recruiters are annoying!"

You've probably experienced working with CV slingers before

You know the recruiters that take a quick job brief from you over email and then proceed to bombard you with resumes - hoping to God that one of them would be a fit?

Almost like throwing mud at a wall to see what sticks

They probably have a database and typed in "salesperson" to find the candidates

They offer little value but yeah, they're cheap.

After working with several recruitment agencies like this, it's understandable that you'd start to think that all recruiters are useless and a waste of time - that it's probably better to recruit in-house.

Recruiters at agencies are given impossible KPIs by their boss, and so they're making calls, sending emails, sending CVs and scheduling interviews through desperation to keep their job.

They are looking out for their own best interest rather than yours.

I don't have a boss breathing down my neck & I can take the time to work in your best interest

I might not be able to help you, but I have helped other companies to achieve their ambitious hiring goals

Let's pretend that I could help you, and you genuinely believed that what I do would work for you - what would stop us from having a conversation?

As a FinTech Start-Up 🚀, when is it time to hire your first Business Development Manager❓🧐

As with most questions, the answer is subjective and individual to each business, however in general there are a few "options" to Sales and Revenue generation for a start-up 💲

1. Bite the bullet early and hire (invest) an individual able to really build something from scratch (a good "storyteller"), often offering a small slice of the pie
2. At first look to utilise "partnership" and "re-sellers" to piggy back in to your first Sales, giving away a small % of the revenue, but gaining access to a more mature market, then using the generated revenue to hire later
3. Use a commission based "expert" who is sub-contracted to kick-start your sales process. Options include 0 up-front/overhead agreements that are directly/only incentivised by success (but will not "stick around" forever or be 100% dedicated to your brand)
4. All the founders keep slogging it out wearing as many hats for as long as possible in a bid to keep costs low - DIY mentality

What other models have you seen?

Which do you believe is the "best" approach?
