Master C. Apr 17, 2022 - 6:47PM Payment tech is one of the first areas to disrupt financial services (e.g. Paypal) and it is still evolving and changing other industries by making it easier for people around the world to pay for good and services (e.g. Klarna / Affirm).
Angel L. Apr 17, 2022 - 6:32PM Glad you find it useful Elena Kozhemyakina. Feel free to share on your company page.
Angel L. Apr 17, 2022 - 6:31PM Steven Wasserman I hope you will share some of those reports with our members here on FinTech Connector.
Elena A. Apr 17, 2022 - 1:50PM thank you for sharing, Angel. I will also share it on my company page and use the data for my next webinar about partnerships and collaborations.
Steven W. Apr 17, 2022 -11:43AM Angel - Thanks for Sharing. Will look over this 156 page report. There are other similar reports, such as one from ACI which you can find along with lots of information information about real time and other faster payments at https://fasterpaymentscouncil.org/. I have been involved in several of this industry level collaboration work groups and still trying to get some of the relevant players interested in what Vments was originally designed to address which today could be called bank issued stablecoins.

I find the M-PESA model of combining physical money with electronic money fascinating in terms of how it has helped countries in Africa move money around in a controlled and safe way. Bringing an element of banking to a huge unbanked population.

What are your thoughts? Do you have other examples of e-money style services helping the underbanked / unbanked people of the world.

Alexis C. B. May 2, 2022 -10:18AM 2/ The responsibility for that kind of fraud risk management framework rests with the telecom companies and the super agents (typically banks).
Alexis C. B. May 2, 2022 -10:16AM Hi, Angel. I investigated one of the first mobile money (M-PESA) cases in Uganda, Africa. From a fraud risk management perspective there are inherent risks at the bank level (super agent), the store level (agent), the customer level (end user), and even at the telecom itself. There are a lot of benefits for the unbanked to transfer minutes rather than pay cash for a transaction. In some countries, it is pervasive enough that they can buy a bus ticket, purchase groceries, pay for services, buy gas, etc. using this alternative remittance system (ARS). This is especially helpful to those that live in remove villages. My word of caution would be that this kind of ARS needs a fraud risk management framework just like any other asset.
